Ybhg. Dato’ Adnan bin Hussain, Director General of Fisheries Malaysia officiated the closing of the Workshop on Finalizing the Proposed Amendments to the Fisheries Act 1985 (Act 317) which was held for two days from 20 May 2024 to 21 May 2024.
He said in line with the current needs and development of the fishing industry at the national and international levels, Act 317 should be strengthened to address various issues and fisheries management measures implemented holistically.
For information, the two-day workshop is important to finalize the amendment matrix before it is submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) in early June.

Dr. Azhar bin Hamzah, Senior Director of Batu Maung Fisheries Research Institute, En. Nazri bin Ishak, Director of Policy and Strategic Planning and officers of the Department of Fisheries Malaysia.
